The Salesian school “San Antonio Abad” in Valencia is part of the network of educational centers of the Salesian Family, the second educational community that educates the most students in Spain, only behind public education.
The Salesian House of San Antonio Abad has more than 100 years of history, beginning its activity in 1909 with the delivery of the Church of San Antoni Abad. Detailed information on each of the stages can be found on the centre’s website , with the most important milestones of each of them.
The Salesian educational method, whose identity center revolves around the figure of Don Bosco, places the Salesian school as a home, parish and school, in which the freedom of the student is encouraged, as a means to give the best of himself.
The educational model implemented by this congregation is present in more than 133 countries, and has great prestige, as a result of the milestones achieved by the students educated in this educational model.

Sun protection needs
As a result of the extensive history of the center in its current location, the management has carried out various tasks aimed at modernizing the facilities and improving the educational work, factors that result in an improvement of the educational conditions of the center.
One of the tasks undertaken has been the rehabilitation and expansion of the infant education building, on the façade with access to San Bruno street.
The project for the execution of the infant education wing of the San Antonio Abad Salesian School contemplates the combination of various spaces on the basis of a pre-existing wing and the execution of a new building, both connected, with which aesthetic uniformity is provided, a uniform built surface is achieved, and the recreation areas of the students are not penalized. despite the location of the school, fully integrated into the urban center.
As can be seen in the images, the use of sun protection systems using slats allows control of the natural lighting in the morning, improving the quality of the light used during teaching hours, and reducing energy consumption, which are factors taken into account throughout the project.
Our contribution to the project
For the execution of the lattices of the Salesian school San Antonio Abad we have had our mobile aluminum slat lattices UPO-150. This product, which stands out for being one of the most balanced solutions in our range, has been placed with the slats in a vertical position and is mounted on specially designed frames to respond to a specific need of the project.
The load-bearing frames of this system have reinforced sections and materials to achieve distances between anchors greater than the standard ones. In this way, the lattice assembly rests directly on the pillars, increasing the strength of the assembly and allowing the use of reinforced anchors specifically for the project.
We would like to highlight here the work of our
collaborators “Hierros y Ferrallas Bronchales
” with whom we collaborated for the execution of this phase of the project, and who contributed an important part of the project with their work.
The lattice assembly incorporates manual actuation systems, which allow with this length of slat, to operate panels up to 600cms long, with smooth operation. Thanks to this system, we can count on long-lasting operation, with very low maintenance and zero energy consumption.
