The IES Badaia project is an example of adapting the products in our range to the needs of each project. With this post, we want to show the solutions applied in terms of sun protection, both through adjustable slat lattices placed on the ground floor, and through fixed slat lattices on the rest of the façades. As a final complement, we also use this system of fixed slat lattices to offer a concealment of the views and cover the machines located on the roof.

The incorporation of solar control systems with slats in the north of Spain is increasingly relevant, since the integration of computer equipment and electronic whiteboards is conditioned in cases of excessive lighting, and this is where systems with lattices provide important advantages.

Sun protection needs

The project takes into account the needs of natural lighting regulation, and is committed to two solar control systems with differentiated slats.

The first corresponds to the use of adjustable aluminum slat lattices for the ground floor of the building, a system that fulfills two important functions for a center of this type. On the one hand, it allows more efficient control of the passage of light into these rooms and, secondly, it provides an additional level of deterrence against the risk of intrusions.

For the second sun protection system, a system has been designed with fixed slat lattices placed in cantilevered above the windows. The protrusion, position and inclination of the fixed slats have been specifically calculated to offer a good shading factor, without losing direct views of the outside.

Our contribution to the project

To provide the most efficient possible solar control with slats, adjustable lattices have been incorporated in the classrooms with the most intensive use, and from these, the
UPO-150
system has been selected, a very popular lattice in our range that is characterised by high maximum lengths, maximum quality of its components and a very competitive price range. Not surprisingly, this is the most used product in this type of architectural projects, in which the balance between quality and price is particularly relevant.

To get the most out of the system, we have optimised the maximum lengths of the slats, and we have incorporated the manual drive system by means of a control in slats, a solution that improves the versatility of the product by allowing the slats to be operated from any point, without the need to resort only to the ends of the lattice.

For the sections with fixed aluminium slat lattices, the
UPF-105 model at 25º
has been selected, in silver RAL 9006. This slatted solar control solution is very popular in the fixed slat range due to its durability and economy and has the particularity of being mounted as a visor above the window openings. To achieve this, we take care of the design and manufacture of specific supports, which not only provide the necessary resistance, but also do so in a discreet way, thanks to a lightened design.

Also noteworthy is the incorporation of this same model in the roof area, in which, placed in an inverted position, it collaborates to fulfil a function of concealment of views. Given the exposed installation, this section also has a perimeter auxiliary structure, with vertical anchoring feet.
